Forty-four-year-old Mark Joseph White was charged with both first and second-degree assault, following an incident in the 100-block of Race Street Friday evening. The alleged victim told police she was strangled by Mr. White; her injuries were consistent with her statement and White was arrested. He received a District Court hearing and was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center, where he was held without bond.
