ALL MD. REPRESENTATIVES VOTE IN FAVOR OF GOVERNMENT STOPGAP BILL

The U.S. House has passed a stopgap bill that will prevent a government shutdown and all eight of Maryland’s representatives voted in favor of the measure. Andy Harris, the state’s lone Republican says the two-step measure is a way to get the broken appropriations process back on track without resulting in a massive omnibus spending bill. Democrat Kweisi Mfume says the bill is far from ideal, but it fully funds the government until early next year. Mfume is urging his Republican colleagues to spend more time governing and less time posturing so Congress can “responsibly go about conducting the People’s business.”  If the Senate passes the measure, it will be sent to President Biden for his signature.
