CUMBERLAND MAN CONVICTED IN EMPLOYEE THEFT SCHEME

Cumberland resident Michael Rapp has been sentenced to a year in the Garrett County Detention Center, with 6 months suspended in an employee theft scheme. Rapp, an employee of the Dollar General Store in Friendsville, was found on video surveillance, placing cash, intended for deposits from the store, into his pockets. He told authorities that he had been robbed of the deposits, at gunpoint, but never reported the incident to law enforcement. A total of more than $7,000 was taken from the store.
