TO RETIRE
The Howard County Board of Education will launch a nationwide search to find a successor for Cumberland native Dr. Michael Martirano, who is retiring at the start of next year. His retirement takes effect January tenth. Dr. Martirano was superintendent of the district when the district faced several transportation issues that left students without transportation to schools. Officials say they resolved most of the issues connected with the district’s bus contractor. The Howard County school board says Dr. Martirano served the district with unwavering dedication.
