STATE OFFICIALS RECOMMEND BABIES GET R.S.V. VACCINATION

Pennsylvania officials are recommending babies get vaccinated for the RSV virus. That’s after a new formula for Beyfortus, a treatment for respiratory syncytial virus, has become available. The CDC has estimated that RSV  in children under five led to up to 80-thousand hospitalizations and about 200 infant deaths last year. State officials say infants are particularly susceptible to severe cases of RSV. The virus also has led to about eight-thousand deaths among adults who are 65 and older per year.
