COUNTY TO RECEIVE $1 MILLION IN OPIOID SETTLEMENT

Allegany County will receive a million dollars in a $400 million class action lawsuit against several pharmaceutical companies stemming from the opioid crisis. The county is pursuing the creation of a board to study ways to invest that money. The state has stipulated that the funding should be used for drug abuse prevention and education. Guidelines also state that a 10-member board be established, to study ways to invest the funding that will achieve the best results to combat the problem.
