The Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission has launched a dedicated Civil Rights Division to combat hate and promote anti-racism. Commission leaders say it’s needed to guard against a surge of hate crimes and acts of discrimination in the state in recent years. PHRC Executive Director Chad Dion Lassiter says the division will focus on investigating civil tensions, conflicts, and incidents; enforcing anti-discrimination laws and promoting anti-racism through education and outreach.
