MAJOR OWNERSHIP CHANGE PENDING FOR ORIOLES

The Baltimore Orioles are on the brink of a significant ownership change. The Angelos family announced yesterday that they’re preparing to sell a controlling stake to a local group headed by David Rubenstein for just over one-point-seven-billion-dollars. Rubenstein, who is backed by a diverse consortium, including Maryland leaders and sports figures, is set to become the team’s new owner pending approval. Under the deal, the Angelos family will continue as a major investor in the team, and current Orioles CEO John Angelos will serve as a senior advisor. Governor Wes Moore praised the deal, and expressed gratitude to the Angelos family for their contributions to the franchise.
