MARYLAND SENATE PASSES BILL TO PROTECT JUDGES, FAMILIES

Maryland is a step closer to protecting the personal information of judges and their families.  The state Senate passed on a 43-to-one vote a bill named in honor of Judge Andrew Wilkinson, who was killed in the driveway of his Washington County home by a man police say Wilkinson had ruled against in a custody case.  The bill would create an office in the judiciary that would let current and former judges, justices, magistrates and court commissioners request that their personal information be shielded from online publication.  A similar measure is under consideration in the House of Delegates.
