MOSBY TO BE SENTENCED FOR PERJURY, MORTGAGE FRAUD IN MAY

Former Baltimore State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby is scheduled to be sentenced for mortgage fraud and perjury on May 23rd. Court documents also indicate there will be a forfeiture hearing an hour before the sentencing. Next week there will be a hearing on a defense motion to acquit Mosby. Criminal defense attorney Andrew Alperstein – who is not associated with the cases – believes Mosby’s attorneys will appeal the verdicts in both cases. He says Mosby has a free, public defender and she has nothing to lose. Mosby faces five-years each on the perjury convictions and 30-years for mortgage fraud.  Alperstein says she won’t get the full sentence, but it’s not helpful that she has three convictions.
