Maryland sports betting led to a record contribution to the state in January, thanks to wagering on the NFL playoffs. State Lottery and Gaming officials report sports betting generated more than eight-point-two-million dollars in contributions from a handle of nearly 545-million dollars. The previous high for state contributions during a single month was six-point-five-million dollars generated in December. Contributions to the state from sports betting go to the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future Fund for public education.
