PA. CHILDREN’S ONLINE INTERACTIONS WOULD BE MONITORED UNDER NEW PROPOSAL

The Pennsylvania House Consumer Protection, Technology and Utilities Committee wants to make it easier to monitor how children interact on social media. The panel on Tuesday approved legislation that would establish rules to make social media companies monitor chats between two or more minors. The companies also would be required to notify parents if the kids exchange “sensitive or graphic” content. House Bill 2017 additionally would require parental consent before a child under 16 could open a social media account.
