West Virginia is observing Severe Weather Awareness Week. In Marshall County, emergency management officials initiated a limited activation tornado drill, to aid residents in how to react to such a situation. Staff and students at Glen Dale Elementary School took part in the drill and showed officials their procedures. Officials say it is important for property owners to check their insurance policies to see what is covered. In a tornado, the inner areas of buildings are safest, and away from glass, doors, and flying debris.
