UMBC REQUESTS MORE THAN $4 MILLION TO SETTLE SEX MISCONDUCT CLAIMS

The University of Maryland Baltimore County is asking the state to approve funding to settle sex abuse and harassment claims against a former swim coach. UMBC is requesting that the Maryland Board of Public Works approve more than 4-point-1-million-dollars for individual claims related to Coach Chad Cradock. Last week, a federal investigation released a report that found UMBC knew about the sexual assault and discrimination allegations against Cradock, but failed to respond. The board is expected to vote on the request during its meeting on April 3. Cradock committed suicide in 2021.
