OVER 90 PENNSYLVANIA RESIDENTS CHARGED WITH PUBLIC ASSISTANCE FRAUD

State officials say over 90 people in Pennsylvania have been charged with public assistance fraud for the month of February. The Office of State Inspector General says 70 of those are facing felony charges, which carry a maximum penalty of seven years in prison. The fraud has consisted of misusing SNAP funds, cash assistance or subsidized care benefits. If all of the people charged are convicted, state officials say they would have to pay back more than 400-thousand-dollars.
