ASSISTED LIVING FACILITY OWNER ACCUSED OF STEALING $700,000+ FROM RESIDENTS

Charges have been filed against the owner of a Fayette County, Pennsylvania assisted-living facility who stands accused of stealing money from residents.  Prosecutors say that more than 700-thousand dollars that was supposed to go to folks living at the “A Touch of Home” facility never made it to the intended recipients.  Much of the money was due to folks from the Pennsylvania Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program and the facility was permitted to keep half of the money but investigators say that, in the cases in question, “A Touch of Home” owner Veerasammy Perumal kept all of it.  Charges against Perumal include forgery and identity theft.
