Route 40 at the Narrows was closed earlier yesterday after a utility pole and lines fell across the roadway. The Allegany County Department of Emergency Services says the LaVale Volunteer Fire Department was alerted to the call about 1:30 p.m. The road was reopened early this morning. Also, several roads in the area are partially covered with water. The saying is, “Turn around, don’t drown.” Please do not drive through standing water, especially if you are not familiar with the roadway. Please exercise caution.
