MARYLAND GENERAL ASSEMBLY’S “SINE DIE”

The 2024 Maryland General Assembly session concluded last night. The term used is “sine die,” and is a legal term for “indefinitely.” In Latin, the term means “without a day.” State lawmakers were busy trying to get bills passed before the midnight deadline.  Those measures included the Maryland PORT Act, which gives financial relief to businesses and workers impacted by the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse. Final passage was expected on a plan to rebuild Pimlico Race Course and transfer ownership of the horse-racing track to the state.
