Maryland childcare centers will now be eligible for a five-year accreditation. The Maryland State Department of Education announced the move on Wednesday as an upgrade from the previous three-year status. Interim Superintendent of Schools Dr. Carey Wright called it a much-needed change. It includes public early childhood education programs as well. Maryland Accreditation is voluntary.
