FISH HOOKS DISCOVERED IN DOG TREATS ON APPALACHIAN TRAIL

The Pennsylvania State Game Commission is urging Appalachian Trail hikers not to pick up dog treats that have been found around the Lehigh Gap. Lehigh Gap Nature Center leaders say they alerted the state agency after a hiker discovered the treats that were embedded with fish hooks over the weekend. They were found between Route 873 and the George W. Outerbridge Shelter in Lehigh County. The nature center’s Executive Director Chad Schwartz says this kind of thing has never happened before. He also said the hiker removed the treats from the trail and that he hopes it was an isolated incident.
