SENATOR WANTS TO LIFE RESTRICTION ON AUTONOMOUS VEHICLES

A Republican state Senator from Lebanon wants to eliminate a ban on autonomous personal vehicles. Senator Chris Gebhard says in a cosponsor memo that the improvements would make roadways safer, help protect pedestrians and bicyclists and offer solutions to distracted driving. He says that while Level Three vehicles are allowed for commercial use, he wants to “remedy”  Pennsylvania’s ban on this technology for personal use.  Conditional driving autonomy components can make informed decisions themselves, but vehicles require a driver to remain alert and take control when requested.
