BUDGET CUTS “JEOPARDIZING PUBLIC SAFETY”

A proposed Fiscal Year 2025 budget aims to eliminate roughly half of Allegany County’s emergency medical services staff and devastate an already diminished ambulance fleet, according to International Association of Fire Fighters Local 1715, Steve Corioni. The Times-News states that a proposed $2 million cut to the EMS budget “will likely result in the removal of staff from three stations, and the layoffs of 24 employees,” according to Corioni.
