WEST VIRGINIA MAY SELL OFF HOSPITALS, INCLUDING ONE IN TERRA ALTA

Discussions are underway to determine what to do with four state-owned hospitals in West Virginia.  The facilities could be rebuilt, but they could also be sold off to investors.  The four hospitals are Jackie Withrow Hospital in Beckley, Lakin Hospital in West Columbia, the John Manchin Sr. Health Care Center in Fairmont and Terra Alta’s Hopemont Hospital.  Lawmakers expect to see a quality report on the state’s seven state operated hospitals when they meet as part of a Special Session in August.
