BOAR’S HEAD EXPANDS RECALL OF MEAT PRODUCTS FROM  VA. PLANT

Boar’s Head is expanding a recall of meat products produced at its plant in Jarratt, Virginia.  The Food Safety and Inspection Service announced yesterday that the company is recalling an additional seven-million pounds of product produced at the facility between May 10th and July 29th.  About 200-thousand pounds of product packaged under the Boar’s Head and Old Country brand names were recalled last week due to fears of listeria contamination.  Federal officials say a listeria outbreak in 13 states has left two people dead and put 33 others in the hospital.
