Heavy snow is possible later in the week in far Western Maryland. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Garrett County from Thursday afternoon through Saturday evening. Up to a foot or more of snow is possible and forecasters are warning of the potential for whiteout conditions. Also, strong winds and the weight of snow on tree limbs could bring down power lines and cause power outages.
