Maryland Comptroller Brooke Lierman is reminding residents to check for unclaimed property. One in seven people in Maryland have unclaimed funds, including forgotten paychecks, refunds, security deposits, and more waiting to be claimed. In 2024, the state’s Unclaimed Property division returned 60-million-dollars to rightful owners and heirs and Lierman says her office has increased outreach efforts to let folks know how to make claims on property safeguarded by the state. The public can check marylandtaxes.gov/unclaimed-property to find out more.
