Lawmakers in the Maryland House have passed the amended Blueprint for Maryland’s Future education bill – without the cuts proposed by Governor Wes Moore. The governor’s Excellence in Maryland Public Schools Act would delay some funding increases as the state deals with a budget deficit of around 3-billion-dollars. The vote was 100 to 39 with Democrats voting for the measure without the cuts and Republicans opposing it. It’s estimated that the governor’s plan could have saved around 1-point-6-billion-dollars in spending over four years. The state Senate has yet to take any action on the bill.
