MARYLAND A.G. INFORMS CONSUMERS ABOUT F.T.C. CLICK TO CANCEL RULE

Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown is informing consumers about a new Federal Trade Commission rule that took effect on Sunday.  Brown says the Click-to-Cancel rule mandates that companies provide a straightforward online method for people to cancel recurring subscriptions and memberships with just a few clicks.  Brown says the new rule helps to protect the public from unwanted charges and makes canceling subscriptions and memberships much simpler. He says these days it’s easier than ever for businesses to sign up consumers for their products and services, but until now it’s not been as easy to monitor or cancel them online.
