A Maryland State Police trooper was flown by Trooper Five to the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center yesterday afternoon, after being hit by a vehicle on Interstate 68 westbound yesterday afternoon. The accident occurred at the 39-mile marker. The motorist who hit the trooper remained at the scene. A second accident happened in the eastbound lanes at the 39-mile marker, when a tractor trailer hit several stopped vehicles. Responders who were at the scene of the first accident left there to assist at the second.
