HARDWOOD BUSINESS OWNERS CLEARED

Three former owners of one of West Virginia’s largest hardwood businesses have been cleared of all criminal charges.  A special federal prosecutor dismissed all charges against John Crites Sr., John Crites the Second, and Kelly Crites, former officers of Allegheny Wood Products.  The case stemmed from the company being placed in receivership in March 2024, with the Hardy County Sheriff filing criminal complaints shortly afterward.  Attorney Isaac Sponaugle stated that certain creditors attempted to use the criminal justice system to get preferential standing on payments after the business faced financial difficulties.
