A former Maryland State Police trooper has been sentenced for selling information to a drug trafficking organization. Thirty-five-year-old Justin Riggs will serve six years in federal prison after pleading guilty in February. Riggs was part of an investigation into drug-and-gun trafficking in Western Maryland when he created a fake Facebook account to contact a drug target and offer to sell information about the informant. An investigation found that Riggs initiated several electronic conversations with the drug distributor between 2022 and 2023.
