The Monongalia County Commission approved a resolution yesterday officially opposing the proposed NextEra Energy Transmission power line project. The 105-mile high-voltage line would run from Pennsylvania to Virginia through West Virginia to supply power to a data center. Commission President Jeff Arnett says the project would benefit NextEra and the data center but come at significant cost to West Virginians who would pay for it without receiving any benefit. The line would carve a 200-foot-wide path through the Mountain State with an additional 100 feet on either side rendered unusable.
