The Maryland Health Department says there have been 19 heat-related deaths this year. The 13 most recent deaths were reported before this week’s heat wave when the high temperatures and humidity combined for heat indices that exceeded 100-degrees. At this time last year, there had been 14 deaths attributed to the heat.
