OPPOSITION TO TRANSMISSION LINE BUILDS

According to the Cumberland Times-News, Mineral County Commissioner Charles “Dutch” Staggs compared a transmission line proposed for the area to a new interstate that residents would help pay for, but couldn’t access locally. The Mid-Atlantic Resiliency Link proposes to build a substation in Frederick County, Virginia, with a transmission line that would connect to Greene County, Pennsylvania. The line would also cross areas of Mineral, as well as Allegany and Garrett Counties. According to Staggs, “We don’t want it. It’s not good for us.”
