MARYLAND TAX FREE WEEK OFFERS BACK-TO-SCHOOL SAVINGS

Maryland families are getting a break on back-to-school shopping during the state’s Tax-Free Week, running through August 16. Clothing, shoes, and school uniforms priced under 100 dollars, as well as backpacks under 40 dollars, are exempt from sales tax. Local resale shops like Once Upon a Child and Kid to Kid say the event boosts business while helping parents stretch their budgets. Some stores are also partnering with local PTAs to donate the equivalent of the sales tax to help stock school supplies. School supplies themselves are not covered under the tax holiday.
