West Virginia Academy is starting its fourth year of classes on Chestnut Ridge Road. The state’s first brick-and-mortar charter school has 280 students enrolled with openings still available. Principal Holly Honeycutt says staff and students are excited to return to their unique learning program. The school uses a special system called STEP where students learn at their own ability level in the morning and grade-level content in the afternoon. The academy plans to build a new nine-million-dollar campus near Cheat Lake that will hold up to 500 students.
