MARYLAND FIREFIGHTERS JOIN BATTLE AGAINST WESTERN WILDFIRES

A 20-person wildland fire crew from Maryland is being deployed to help battle major wildfires in the western U.S.  The team — made up of state firefighters and conservation personnel —  departed Green Ridge State Forest Wednesday evening and is headed to the Rocky Mountain region.  Once in Colorado, they’ll be assigned to either support ongoing large fires or respond to new ones.  The area is currently the nation’s top wildfire priority, with a dozen active fires burning more than 185-thousand acres.
