The Superintendent of Garrett County Schools, Brenda Mc Cartney has announced her plans to retire at the end of the 2025-2026 school year. She made the announcement during last week’s Board of Education meetings. Her decision, she says was made with mixed emotions. According to the Cumberland Times-News, she began her educational career began in 1971, and was named interim superintendent in May of 2023, following the retirement of Barbara Baker.
