The Maryland State Department of Education has announced updated income eligibility guidelines for free and reduced-price meals through the Child and Adult Care Food Program. The program that provides nutritious meals and snacks for qualifying participants is federally funded through the U.S. Department of Agriculture and administered by the state. Reimbursement is based on household income information submitted on the Meal Benefit application and it extends to foster children, SNAP, Temporary Cash Assistance recipients, or those enrolled in Head Start. Adult day care participants who are members of SNAP households or receive Supplemental Security Income or Medicaid are also eligible for the free meals.
