Somerset County Sheriff Dustin Weir has been charged with corruption of minors after allegedly making inappropriate remarks toward an underage family member of a now former county staff member. The alleged incident of sexual misconduct happened during the “Shop with a Cop” at the Somerset Walmart. Weir was confronted by the alleged victim’s mother during a work-related group chat, which reportedly included other sexually inappropriate comments about the 15-year-old victim. For his part, Sheriff Weir’s attorney alleges the claims are “baseless” and were made by a “disgruntled” former staff member.
