Senator Jim Justice’s family-owned coal company, Bluestone Coal, has more than three million dollars in liens filed against it for unpaid severance and special reclamation taxes. The West Virginia Tax Division filed the liens between 2023 and this past summer. The liens represent 35 filings for unpaid obligations that the company claims are immediately due and payable. Only one lien, in the amount of 43 thousand dollars, has been withdrawn according to county records.
