Maryland Sixth District Representative has introduced legislation to support food banks during lapses in SNAP funding. Congresswoman April McClain Delaney says the Food Bank Emergency Support Act would strengthen the nation’s hunger-relief network by increasing emergency funding for food pantries, ensuring they can continue to serve vulnerable Americans. She says families don’t stop needing food just because Washington experiences a funding lapse, and the recent shutdown showed how painful the pause in benefits was. The Maryland Food Bank has endorsed the bill.
