West Virginia’s PEIA Finance Board has approved premium increases taking effect next July. Public employees will face a three-percent aggregate premium increase along with a 200-dollar monthly spousal surcharge hike. The changes are less dramatic than last year’s increases, which included a 14-percent hike for state fund plans and a 12-percent increase for retirees. Education leaders are now calling on state lawmakers to address concerns about the spousal surcharge system during the upcoming legislative session.
