BERKELEY TEACHERS BARRED FOR LIFE

Three former Berkeley County Schools employees are permanently banned from teaching or working with special needs children.  A civil lawsuit filed in 2019 found that former teacher Christina Lester and aides June Yurish and Kristin Douty violated the state’s Human Rights Act.  Attorney General J.B. McCuskey says the ban ensures accountability for their treatment of special needs students.  Criminal charges in the case were previously dismissed due to costs.
