HOGGLE COMPETENCY HEARING HELD IN ROCKVILLE

A Montgomery County judge is trying to determine if Catherine Hoggle is competent to stand trial for allegedly murdering her two children.  A two-day competency hearing for Hoggle got underway in Rockville yesterday.  An expert for the prosecution testified that Hoggle is competent to assist with her own defense, while another expert says Hoggle still suffers from delusions and is a danger to herself and others.  Hoggle’s two children disappeared in 2014, and she was declared unfit to stand trial several times following her 2017 indictment.  She was released from a state hospital in July, and she was indicted by a grand jury shortly after her release.
