Somerset County Sheriff Dusty Weir was in court earlier this week for the first time since being charged for an alleged incident involving a 15-uear-old girl at a “Shop With a Cop” event last year. The defense is arguing that the charges should be dropped, because the alleged victim’s mother was fired by Sheriff Weir 16 days before she notified State Police. Weir waved his formal arraignment, which was set for February 2nd, as the prosecution says a new date should be selected sometime in April.
