Governor Wes Moore has signed an executive order calling for a special session of the Maryland General Assembly. The special session will be called to order next Tuesday, December 16th to elect a new House Speaker to replace Adrienne Jones who is stepping down from the leadership role. The governor says the General Assembly may also consider other business to be resolved before the start of the legislative session. The 2026 General Assembly will convene on Wednesday, Jan. 14th.
