EDUCATION FUNDING CHANGES EYED

West Virginia lawmakers are considering changes to the state education funding formula and code.  Delegate Joe Statler says superintendents want to compete with charter schools and the Hope Scholarship program.  Legislative priorities include adjusting personnel requirements, creating weighted funding for smaller rural districts, and increasing resources for special education.  Senator Vince Deeds says transportation costs in large rural counties and growing special needs classrooms require additional state funding.
