The Allegany County Sheriff’s Office says an altered photo, appearing on a certain social media site, appears to be A.I.-generated. The photo clearly identified a license plate and a person in the driver’s seat, in connection to the July 6th fatal accident on Campground Road that killed Tina Gillespie. On July 6th, she had attempted to cross Campground Road, when the drivers of two other vehicles failed to see her lying in the roadway and struck her. Authorities do not believe the Subaru driver was at fault, but it is a crime in Maryland to leave the scene of an accident with injury. They added that the fabricated post on the site, “Cumberland On Patrol Raw” is actively harming the ongoing investigation.
