A pedestrian was hit by a Department of Natural Resources vehicle on Monday afternoon, and the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office is investigating. The incident happened in the 800-block of Valley Street, just outside the city limits. The D.N.R. officer was traveling in the area of the Old Valley Road, when he crested a hill, and saw several pedestrians in the road; the officer swerved to avoid them, but struck a 27-year-old woman. The victim was taken to UPMC-Western Maryland and discharged the same day. The investigation is ongoing, but preliminary findings reveal the woman was unlawfully in the roadway.
